Dear Buyers and Sellers,
While we are often left speechless by the beauty and magesty of the planet, we now understand that while the resources of our planet are abundant, they are in no way inexhaustible. But we are slowly learning that if we treat our environment with respect, the rewards we reap will be boundless. Our homes are our immediate environment, and, indeed, for many of us they represent far more than shelter. I believe that realtors have a responsibility to promote homes that are safe, healthy, comfortable and energy-efficient. As a certified EcoBroker, I take a stand for your health and comfort and for the well being of the planet.

Spring is just around the corner! With the recent record snowfalls, inspecting your house has never been more important! Here's a great checklist for March. If you are considering a new roof this year, ask your contractor what roofing options are available to help protect your home from winter ice dams.
- Check for damage to your roof, chimney, gutters & downspouts
- Check all the fascia and trim for deterioration or ice damage
- Replace your furnace filter

- Clean the kitchen exhaust hood and air filter
- Always have a multi-purpose fire extinguisher accessible in the kitchen
- Clean clothes dryer exhaust duct, damper, and space under the dryer
- Make sure the light bulbs in all your fixtures are the correct wattage
- Consider installing a lightning protection system on your home
- Protect all your electrical appliances from power surges and lightning
- Run through a severe-weather drill with your family
- Repair all cracked, broken or uneven driveways and walks to help provide a level walking surface
- Check the shutoff valve at each plumbing fixture to make sure they function - don't forget the washing machine
- Replace all extension cords that have become brittle, worn or damaged
- Change batteries, inspect and clean dust from the covers of your smoke and carbon monoxide alarm.
